routing Kontakt Multi in VE

I have seen the documents that are out there but I haven't been  able to route the instruments in a Kontakt multi to distinct MIDI channels. Can someone provide a step-by-step explanation?

At the top left where you can select either a specific midi channel or all available, select ALL. That gives you 16 midi channels for that instance of Kontakt.
