  • [SOLVED] VEP Pro 7 - Midi feedback loop problem?

    Hi guys   : )

I just bought Vienna Ensemble Pro 7 to complement Cubase Pro 12 running on Windows 11.  Most things seem to work as expected.  However, unless the 'record enable' button is on when I select an instance of VEP, the meter shoots into the red for about 30-seconds before settling down.

I've left VEP on its default settings and tried uninstalling/reinstalling it, using different instruments in brand new projects, changing the midi channels, and using instrument instances as well as rack instances, but the problem remains.  (My CPU seems fine.)

I don't know much about these things, but because there's usually no audio when the metres are in the red (although there have been times when there has been a regular pulse kind of sound), could it be a midi loop, or surge, or 'thru' problem, or VEP transmitting unexpected data, or a setting in Studio Setup I haven't checked, or a Retrospective Recording problem, or something like that?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  : )

    Kind regards

I've just come across the bit in the user manual that advises Cubase users to disable Asio Guard for everything Vienna related.  I've done that and it seems to have solved the problem.  (At least for now!)  Wish I'd read the manual more closely.  Sorry guys.  : )
