Hmmmmm. No idea how this could happen. 8-/
I'll ask VSL's developers to look into the issue. Thanks for your patience!

I have no news to tell regarding your issue, other than the fact that we still weren't able to reproduce that strange behaviour yet.
BTW - did you try to update to the most recent version of MIR 3D recently? If you do so I also suggest to actively uninstall any previous version first. Don't be afraid, neither your settings nor the RoomPacks are affected. Reboot the machine after the installation and give it another try, please.
Thanks again for your patience.
Hi,
Are you referring to the Auto Aim issue? Or are you referring to the Venue Preset issue I illustrated in the videos?
I did update with a link Andreas sent me for the latest hot fix which fixed the channel dragging bug. And the Auto Aim is now working perfectly!.
Here are the two videos showing a Venue Preset not recalling the Profile or position data correctly. Note this behaviour only happens if I close the VEP project and then open it again before loading the Venue Preset. Which is why I made two short videos instead of one long one.
This video shows the state the Venue Preset is in before closing the project. Note the Profiles.
This video shows that on loading the Preset, the Basses icon is not in the saved position and the Profiles are now the default Cardioid profile.
Cheers,
Oh, I wasn't aware of the fact that we were discussing two separate issues here, sorry.
The reason why some of the Roles aren't assigned automatically in your second video is simple: You haven't defined them for the top-most Instruments yet, it seems. Mind you: Roles are matched by Role names, not by Instrument names.
HTH,
You haven't defined them for the top-most Instruments yet, it seems.
In the first video you can see that the Venue Preset has been saved with the correct profile assigned to the top most instruments in the list. See picture below. But on loading that Venue Preset in the second video those instruments have now lost that profile assignment and are now at the default cardioid profile. Also, the second video shows the Basses icon is way off the stage to the right for some reason.
Cheers,
Yes, I understand that.
Maybe it's the language barrier, but that's exactly what I'm trying to tell you: In your second example, there _are_ active Roles with different names (i.e. these Instruments are _not_ unassigned!). Might be that you created them inadvertently as they are called like the dummy text of an empty (black) Role field, but the light grey color tells us that there is in fact already a set of Instrument parameters in use - but one that's not part of the active Venue Preset.
Those cases where the existing name in the "grey" Role-field match with one available in the Venue Preset you load will apply (automatically, as long as the respective option is ticked) and turn blue. You will have to re-assign the Role manually once (e.g. by using the pull-down on the right end of the Role-field, or by creating one from scratch, saving it with the intended name), _then_ you can drag-in other Venue Presets and the respective Roles will find their target.
HTH,
Great Thanks!
So:
Grey = Instrument parameters in use but not part of currently loaded Venue Preset
Black = No assignments (default parameters)
Blue = Part of currently loaded venue Preset
*/Disk icon = Edited Parameters and option to save as part of currently loaded Venue Preset
Thanks again,
P.S.
If I am working in stereo only, is there anything to be gained by using the '3D to Stereo Downmix' and ' 3D Surround Downmix' presets?
Hi again,
I'm sorry that it took me so long to find the right words, but now you have understood the concept in its entirety. 😊
If I am working in stereo only, is there anything to be gained by using the '3D to Stereo Downmix' and ' 3D Surround Downmix' presets?
While Ambisonics purists may raise an eyebrow, I think of these "downmix" settings much like the proverbial classical Tonmeister who uses all those beautiful surround and top layer microphones for the stereo mix as well. To my ears, they add a lot of spatial enveloping and tonal density to the reverb. - BTW, we have also done this with many mixer presets of our Synchron Instruments.
Apart from that, all these Downmixes rely on 3rd Order Ambsionics, not just 1st Order like the "classic" capsule based Output Formats, which is a huge sonic improvement in general.
Hi,
Grey = Instrument parameters in use but not part of currently loaded Venue Preset
Black = No assignments (default parameters)
Blue = Part of currently loaded venue Preset
*/Disk icon = Edited Parameters and option to save as part of currently loaded Venue Preset
If this ^ is all true, how can a slot be both blue and have a */Disk icon on loading the Venue Preset? Could you please explain, how could a parameter have been edited when I have only just loaded the Venue Preset? See video.
Cheers,
Any word on when the bug with the graphics of the left hand side icon list is going to be fixed?. It really does make the software look dodgy.
I have a system where my control surface selects and isolates the instrument I want to edit. So having to grab the mouse and click, click, click always catches me out the first time I open MIR.
