    Hi,

    I'm a little confused about how to auto-apply venue presets when switching venues. I've watched the available videos on YouTube and read some related posts on this forum but could not find an answer.

    I have for example 3 instruments and 2 venues, Sage Hall One and Grosses Festspielhaus.

    1) I position the instruments on Stage Hall One.

    2) I create a venue preset for Stage Hall One, giving unique names to all instrument presets, prefixed with "SH1".

    3) I drag the instruments to Grosses Festpielhaus in the instrument list. By default, the instruments are located on stage exactly as on SH1.

    4) I create a new venue preset for Grosses Festpielhaus. By default, the instrument preset names are the same as for SH1, but I change this to unique names by replacing the prefix with "FSH".

    5) I re-position the instruments on stage, change settings, then save the instrument presets in the venue preset for Festspielhauss.

    6) Now I drag the instruments from Festspielhauss to Stage Hall One in the instrument list.

    7) I expect the SH1 settings to be applied automatically, but this is not the case. The instruments remain at the Festspielhauss settings. The venue preset tool now shows the Festspielhaus instrument presets under the Stage One venue preset, along with a save icon. I have to re-select the SH1 instrument presets from the dropdown in order to restore the expected instrument settings.

    I probably am doing something wrong or have the wrong expectations. Can someone clarify this for me?

    Hi Joris,

    you must not change the name of the Roles to make that happen. :-) The name is the link between the Instrument (on the left) and the Venue Preset (the caramel coloured top entry). MIR has no way to know what it should do, otherwise.

    An example: The instrument can be called "VSL Violin" in Venue Preset One, and "The Solo!" in Venue Preset two. The Venue Preset knows nothing about the input signal itself, only about the function you have intended for it in a particular setup. However, this function - the Role - must be named identically for both Venue Presets, e.g. "VI 1 Solo Center". If this requirement is met when the Venue Preset is changed, this Role will also be recalled correctly for the instrument it was assigned to, provided this Role is available in both Venue Presets (no matter what parameters it was saved with). - You can do this manually, one after the other; it will be applied automatically if the "Auto Apply" function is enabled.

    ... a Role that was already present in Venue Preset One but not in Venue Preset Two is displayed in grey. A properly applied Role will be shown in blue. If you change any of its parameters manually it will still be blue, with an asterisk (*) in the name. It will turn grey when you assign a new name manually.

    Hi Dietz,

    Thanks for clarifying! Now I understand it better, it’s the same instrument role, that can have different settings in different venues. I misunderstood the fact that the instrument presets should have unique names, mentioned in one of the videos, thinking that it should be globally unique.

    You're very welcome! Don't hesitate to ask if any other questions arise. We are aware of the fact that this whole "Roles" concept is very different from any other method of "thinking" and organizing presets, but once you grasp the basic principles of its handling it is incredibly powerful.

    Powerful and super flexible indeed. I'm only at the beginning of my journey with Mir Pro 3D, but the more I discover, the more it feels like "gold in your hands"...
