[SOLVED] Scientific pitch notation and VSL's designation of middle C as C3

This article states that the international standard for pitch notation is to designate middle C as C4.

Yet VSL chose to designate Middle C as C₃

I'm curious as to why. I used to struggle with this as Cubase on the original install designates Middle C as C₄

Then I found a way to reset Cubase and never looked back until, I was reading several music theory textbooks and the authors show Middle C as C4
