  • REQUEST Synchron Woodwinds Flute 2 and Oboe 2, Synchron Brass Trumpet 2 and Horn 2 in soundset

It'd be absolutely lovely to add Flute 2 and Oboe 2, Trumpet 2 and Horn 2 into the soundsets for sibelius (like clarinet and bassoon 1 and 2) to allow for easy rendering of seperate articulations with single players  - e.g. Stravinsky symphony of psalms where there are long passages of woodwind staccato against slurs from the 2nd (or 4th) players.

If this is possible with channel assignment, without changes necessary, could you post instructions?

I'd send even more love if you'd clone tenor trombone so that we could have a cheat trombone 2 with the same option also (and let's get muted brass nad pro strings out soon too!!)

  • Hello Callum!

You can use Flute 2, Oboe 2, Trumpet and Horn 2 with the programs Flute, Oboe, Trumpet and Horn. There shouldn't be any need for dedicated 2nd programs. Clarinet 2 and Bassoon 2 have slightly different switches/articulations in comparison to Clarinet 1 and Bassoon 1. That's why there are different programs for these instruments.

You can also add a second tenor trombone, or as many tenor trombones as you like. Simply apply as many channels for any particular instrument as you need on the Sibelius Manual Sound Sets page and in Vienna Ensemble.

    Instructions can be found here:

  • Hi Andi

Ok - how do I persuade sibelius to send to send to those 2nd 'players' - as it just tries to play chords on the 1'st player's part. This also happens with dimension strings II sord for the 2nd violins by the way.

  • Hi Callum!

It can have different reasons why instruments play on the wrong channel. Did you go through the Troubleshooting section of the "Sibelius Integration" tutorial yet? All possible reasons that come to my mind are listed there.

If you can't find a solution there, you can send the following screenshots to support@vsl.co.at and I will take a look at them.
    - Sibelius "Add or Remove Instruments" menu
    - Sibelius mixer
    - Sibelius Playback Devices menu
    - Sibelius Manual Sound Sets page of all loaded devices
    - Vienna Ensemble showing one of the instruments that doesn't work correctly

    Best regards,
    Andi
