  • [SOLVED] can't connect to VEP 7 after switching to iLok

    hi,

i'm having problem connecting to my VEP after switching my license to iLok. the switching license was done smoothly. i downloaded vienna assistant and re-install VEP now has the version 7.1.1226 (before was 7.0.1120).

i can open the VEP server software without problem. But when I open cubase, start new session, add new rack instrument VEP server, i can see the usual 127.0.0.1 localhost [64] (NEW). But when I choose it and click connect, nothing happen. it won't connect, it just stayed there.

i also checked if i open my old project cubase session that use VEP, the VEP can connect automatically with no problem. the only problem is when i start a new DAW session and add a new instances. is this a bug? please help.

right now i decided to go back to VEP 7.0.1120, and everything is back to normal, but i also need to use the elicenser usb dongle again to be able to open this version.

hopefully there's a solution soon for this problem 🙏🏽

    i'm on macos 11.6.5. cubase 11.0.41

  • Hi Indra,

VSL & iLok need macOS 10.13 or higher. No way around it.

  • Hi,

I have the same problem (Windows 10, Cubase 12.0.0.205, VEP Server 7.1.1226).

    Hitting "connect" has no effect.

  • 10.16.7 here with Cubase 12 activated with new Steinberg license and VEP7.0.1120, still eLicenser. Working fine. Thought maybe it could be C12. Just to let you know.

P.S. Sorry mistake, you are still on C11

  • He has "i'm on macos 11.6.5. cubase 11.0.41"

  • Hi,

seems like a small but annoying bug in the user interface: The "connect" button doesn't work, but a _double click_ on the instance (or "new") works :-)

  • hi Paul,

i'm actually on macOs 11.6.5. i'm using iLok Cloud for the VE Pro license, it worked fine. and the VE Pro Server (7.1.1226) software is working fine too, it just that i can't connect to VE Pro Server from DAW. the connect button doesn't do anything. except if i open an old DAW project that has a VE Pro on it, than it can automatically connect.

i'm back to VE Pro (7.0.1120) for now and it's working fine, but back to using elicenser usb.

    Best,

    Indra

  • ....just an idea, 127.0.0.1 is shown in the "SERVER" field, before you click connect?

Just try a double click on "new" or the instance in question 😊

  • hi carsten.witzel,

that actually solved the problem! double clicking the <NEW> get me connected. thank you so much!

  • Hi Indra,

you're welcome! I'm glad it works for you, too!

Hopefully some guy at VSL will notice this thread, as it is a very silly bug.

    OS: 11.6.5

    VEP7  7.1.1239
