    Hi folks

    I posted this one in the General Discussion area already, just to share my happiness about VSL Chamber Strings.
    Now, I'm posting it here because I'd appreciate some feedback.
    Just gave the VSL Chamber Strings a short test run in my current project. I was just using 2 acticulations here.
    Sustained for the very high violin playing long notes
    SFZ (sforzato) for the rest. SFZ gave me enough attack, so I saw no need to use staccato patches as well. The tremolos are still coming from Hypersonic, guess I'll replace them as well...

    I'm not veeeeery experienced with pro strings and their use in pop tunes, so it would be great if you told me whether there's any issues left or if there's something else I would need to take care of?

    Good Job Tele,

    Thats a very nice song! Very catchy. As far as the strings go, they sound fine.

    They don't sound like real strings, however, because there is hardly any reverb or articulations. But when you're not in an orchestral environment, it's hard to be critical because mabey thats the sound the artists were going after!. It sure fit your application here......

    Do you have any suggestions for changing patches here in a manner that would be appropriate for the style of music?
    Chamber Strings sound so much better on the song, than the patches I was using before, that came from my allround soundmodules.

    I would definitely put some reverb on to warm up the sound. The voicings and timing is fine, it's just too dry for me.

    I agree that the strings could use some reverb, they don't sound like they're in the same space as the rest of the tracks....of course that may have been what you want. As far as articulations go, I can't give too much advice since I don't have the chamber strings package, so I'm not 100% on which articulations you have but for the riff it sounds like you need: more detache on the first notes, probably alternate the 0.3 upstroke/downstrokes. when you get to the dotted-eighth sixteenth figure you may or may not want to switch to a staccato patch on the sixteenth, then over to a sustain for the last note(or even a short crescendo or a Fp). I'd say play arround and see what you like.

    anyway that may be completly useless with that library, you'll have to forgive me as I only have opus1 to work with at the moment. I bet some other people would have some good ideas on what you could do ^^

    I will try it out with more reverb. I'm usually very hesitating with reverb, don't ask me why, maybe it's a matter of my taste, maybe it's a matter of "fearing" to overso with effects. We'll see.

    I'll keep you up to date with a new version.
