I've looked and can't find this anywhere. and searching for vep files turns up nothing. any suggestions? (autosave time interval is set to 5 mins).

Macintosh HD/Users/#yourusername#/Library/Application Support/VSL/Vienna Ensemble Pro/autosave/
To access the LIBRARY folder: In the Finder, hold down the Option key when using the Go menu. Library will appear below the current user's home directory.

great thanks Paul. Seeing the file in there now. I wonder, instead of it saving only the most recent file, is there a way to make it save all the autosave files? So if you wanted to go back say, a few hours or days and open a VEP autosave file that corresponds with its companion DAW file of the same time-stamp - for example?

Everything is possible, but this is the first request for such a data-generating feature. in more than 10 years of VE PRO..
I think it makes more sense to cultivate a good naming system for the different versions of your arrangements or/and VE Pro projects.

Oh I see. Appreciate the, I'm sure -not at all snarky- advice for my own workflow. Just because no one has asked, doesn't mean it wouldn't be a valuable feature. This is a common feature in pro tools and other software. It does prove itself very helpful when for example, you've realized down the road you would like to pull up a snapshot of exactly the state of your template from a specific time and date that may differ from where it is at present.
