  • Would this computer do the job?

    Hi

Its been years since I recorded with Vienna in Logic (10 years or so) and then I did it on an IMAC with good results. Now when I am to start again, would this computer do the job for me? I am not a professional composer.

    • IMAC
    • Apple M1 chip with 8-core CPU with 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores, 7-core GPU, and 16-core Neural Engine
    • 8GB unified memory
    • 256GB SSD storage
    • Two Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports

    Thank you for answers

  • It depends on what kind of stuff you intend to do, but for today's libraries I think you'd find 8 GB RAM extremely tight if not horribly restrictive. Even the max RAM option of 16 GB for that particular machine would probably be very tight indeed. Very sorry to say, I'd not recommend that iMac for symphonic work with Synchron libraries.

I get by, carefully, with 64 GB in my 2017 iMac.
