  • Synchron Player Crashing Frequently

    Hello,

I'm on the latest version of Synchron player v 1.1.2046 running on macOS 10.15.7 in Cubase 10.5.30 as a VST3 plugin.

It seems to crash a lot for me. Sometimes it will crash when loading the project and Cubase will suddenly disappear. Sometimes it will crash when exporting an MP3 (in random places). If the crash happens when I'm exporting audio Cubase will become unresponsive — I can't even cancel out of the audio export. I have to force quit. Once I've done that I can no longer restart Cubase and, what's even worse, my Mac will not even shut down properly so I have to execute a hardware shut down but pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds.

All of my VSL library files are stored on a 6 month old OCW Thunderblade drive, but I'm exporting to a Seagate USB Hard Drive.

I know it is Synchron that is crashing because of the Cubase crash report.

I have the latest elicenser software. I'm not sure how to solve this issue.

Does anyone have any answers or suggestions for me?

    Many thanks,

    Darren

P.S. I tried to post the Crash Log info but the text size exceeds the limit for the forum software. Here is a link to the file in case it helps diagnose the problem:

    Hello Darren,

Sorry to hear about these troubles.

Looks like this could be related to corrupted content. I see that you have a lot of Synchron Series products and this will take a while, but the best idea is to re-install all Synchron content (or at least the content of the products you have available in the projects that crash).

    Best,
    Paul

Hi Paul, Thank you for your reply. I don’t know if I could bear to download all of that content again. It will take me weeks as I can’t leave it going 24 hours a day, only at nighttime and weekends (for family reasons). Is there any way you could help me out with a cheap hard drive with it all on? My project uses almost all of my Synchron libraries plus some VIs from the Symphonic Cube. I tried turning Cubase’s ASIO-Guard off and also exporting my mixdown to a different SSD drive but the feeezing still happens. I literally just tried and it froze at the very start of my project. It’s very frustrating.

  • Hello Darren,

I'm afraid I can only offer our standard installation harddrives, which are available in our webstore (add a product to the basket, then add the respective harddrive for VI or Synchron, then remove the product).

Alternatively, you could try and find out which instrument is causing the loading troubles by removing them from your SY Player Database... shouldn't take too long, but it's tedious...

Sorry to have no better idea.

    Best,
    Paul

  • Hi Mobius,

Good news. This error message might be caused by a bug in the Synchron Player Software!

I'm sending you a beta version to check (to your registered email address).

    Best,
    Paul

I was just about to update my Synchron Player to the 2046 build when I saw this.  Has the current version on the myVSL website already taken care of the bug, or should I wait a few days?  Thanks.

Thanks Paul. Sorry, I've only just had a chance to try this out. Unfortunately Cubase still froze when exporting audio after I installed the update. Perhaps there is something wrong with my particular system rather than the player itself. I plan to upgrade to an M1 Mac soon so perhaps a fresh system will cure it.

Thanks so much. I am incredibly impressed with the swiftness of you and your team's response!

I will keep an eye on this. It may have helped reduce the freezes but it's too early to tell at the moment.

No, not in my particular case. But you may well have better luck with your system than mine.

  • Thanks, and good luck.

I've had a lot of crashes of my Studio One on a Mac with the earlier build 2035, so I'm hoping to have better luck with this new build....
