Hi Andi,
I am trying to switch between longs Regular and Con fortissimo with Sibelius. I have looked at the online manuals but cant find it.
Thanks,
Dave

Hello Dave!
The Sibelius sound set triggers the "con fortissimo" type of the long notes. There is no command to trigger the "regular" type. With Dorico or Sibelius in most cases you shouldn't need the regular type, because you can trigger the lower velocity layers anyway with dynamic marks. "Con fortissimo" just means that a fortissimo layer is included for high velocities.
Best regards,
Andi
Ok Thanks Andi,
I am having some problems getting the trumpets (4 or 6) to switch properly.
I have a solo trumpet on one staff (using Trumpet in C, with sound set VE SY winds > trumpet) this works fine.
I then have 6 trumpets on another staff (using Trumpets in C a6, with sound set VE SY winds > trumpet ensemble). I can't get this to work. I then tried trumpets in C a3, still no luck.
The only way after some experimenting was using Trumpet in Bb for the 6 trumpets to switch correctly.
Thanks,
Dave
Hello Dave!
All the Sibelius trumpet ensemble instruments that you have tried are working fine with the Synchron Brass trumpet ensembles here.
It can have different reasons why articulation changes don't work as expected or instruments play on the wrong channel. Did you go through the Troubleshooting section of "Sibelius Integration" tutorial yet? All possible reasons that come to my mind are listed there.

If you can't find a solution there, please send the following screenshots and a reference to this forum thread to support@vsl.co.at.
- Sibelius "Add or Remove Instruments" menu
- Sibelius mixer
- Sibelius Playback Devices menu
- Sibelius Manual Sound Sets page of all loaded devices
- Vienna Ensemble showing one of the instruments that doesn't work correctly

Andi
Hello Bill!
Synchron Brass ensembles get loaded properly here. It seems to me that you have loaded a playback template that uses SYzd Special Edition Brass instruments. If the problem remains, please let me know, which playback template you have loaded exactly.
Best regards,
Andi
Hi Bill!
I remember now. I have fixed this problem after the release of the playback template for Synchron Brass. The fix will be included in the next update, which hopefully will come soon. In the meantime, please manually load the correct preset in Synchron Player. Sorry for the inconvinience that this may have caused.
Best regards,
Andi
I recommend using the Velocity version of the presets with Dorico (and Sibelius).
Hi Andi, is there a reason for this? I would have assumed the CC1 version would have been more versatile (and that's the configuration I’m currently using).
Paolo
Hi Bill and Paolo!
The Dorico Expression Maps for Synchron Brass control dynamics via velocity and CC2. With the velocity presets loaded, you can have VelXF turned on or off. VelXF is assigned to CC2, so both settings will work. The VelXF presets have this fader assigned to CC1.
Best regards,
Andi
Also, long notes default to Con Fortissimo instead of Regular
Yes, I don't know if this is by choice, and which is the suggested strategy to then recall Regular. Maybe using the presets with a notation program doesn't even require this patch, since you always want access to the full dynamic range.
Paolo
Hi Bill and Paolo!
Not all articulations can easily be triggered with a notation program. You can always make custom playing techniques if you want to trigger additional articulations. The con fortissimo patches have been chosen for Dorico to have the full dynamic range at hands. Normally you will not need the regular dynamic patches with Dorico.
Best regards,
Andi
