Since discovering VSL, I've bought a lot of libraries. I've got my samples on a 4 TB RAID 0 array, and the performance is great. The problem is, I'm running out of space!
After buying and installing Synchron Brass, I was getting a red warning on the drive where I keep my VSL libraries. So, I had a look and found a few installation folders were still there, and moved those out. That left me still very close to the limit.
So I began to look at my VI Pro products and my Synchron-ized products to determine any overlap. Since the descriptions are the same, I assumed that the Synchron-ized Special Edition and the VI Special Edition instruments are practically the same, so I moved the VI folders to another drive (since I slightly prefer the Synchron player). That bought me some space, but not as much as I would like.
I also have Synchron-ized Woodwinds, Syz--Chamber Strings, Syz-Chamber Strings sordino, and Syz-Elements as well as VI Woodwinds I & II and Chamber Strings I. I had a look at the Woodwinds presets and patches on the VI Pro player and the Synchron player, and I see the VI Player includes an alto flute, but the Synchronized version apparently does not.
Am I right in thinking that the Synchron-ized versions and the original VI versions do NOT overlap perfectly? Am I right in thinking that I would actually lose access to samples and instruments by moving the VI versions of these libraries to an archive drive?
If so, are there any resouces that could tell me what I would lose out of the VI Chamber Strings I and Woodwinds I & II if I did move the folders?
Thanks!
