  • Midi/Performance trouble

    Hello,

I am having trouble with my midi set up, however, this is a new phenomena, as I have been using the VSL collection for a few weeks and a day or two ago I ran into problems. I am running Giga 160 and Nuendo on the same box - a P4, 1.4, with 1gig of ram - both with the most recent updates, on a Windows 2000 system with Service pack 3. (Audio cards: Delta Audiophile 24/95 & RME 96/52 with GISF drivers)

The problem is, when I use the Performance Tool I am cut off from Nuendo. I am unable to record any midi, I can, however, change the program number, and volume. Also, in Gigastudio I can only play the patch in Program 1 from my keyboard/trigger. I have followed the VSL Performance Tool manual to a tee, yet, I must be missing something... somewhere. In Gigastudio, I have left the In Midi option blank, the Performance Tool is set to Delta In (My Hardwire) and Nem 1 Out, and, in Nuendo, Delta In and Nem Out and there is nothing. That said, when I use the Cube, ie., go directly from Giga to Nuendo, without using the Performance Tool, I have no trouble. I did download the current version available online of the Performance Tool and installed it, to ensure that I have the most recent version. That said I don't think this is a VSL issue per se. I am hoping someone on this forum might have some insight into this type of issue, since I am working with the Performance Tool and the VSL Library.

Any tips would be of great help.
    Thanks for your consideration

  • maybe i dont understand you right, but shouldn't the chain be:
    keyboard - delta - nuendo - performancetool - gigastudio

to *hang* the perf.-tool in between nuendo and giga you will need to use virtual midiports e.g. marbleports http://www.marblesound.com">http://www.marblesound.com if you run both (sequencer + sampler) on one machine

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • Thank you, you put me back on track; sometimes the hamster falls asleep in the wheel: it was a midi yoke issue. Thank you for your help, all is good again.

    All the best.
