    I finally got this thing set up today, and I'm having a little trouble with the sustain pedal. It dies really quickly, kinda holds out the reverb a little, but it's not the same nice long sustain as when I hold a key down indefinitely.

    I just tried it with a different controller, and it seems to work on the small controller. I used Midi-Ox to get a readout of the two controllers and here's what I found:

    The 88 Key Technics SX-PR250 on which I was having the issue gives me this readout for pressing and releasing the pedal:

    The Akai LPK25 which isn't suitable for playing piano, but the sustain test worked properly, gave me this readout:

    The only real difference seems to be the B3 rather than B1 in the "Status" column. I'm continuing to research what this means, and if all else fails I suppose I can have midi-ox filter that parameter, though I'd rather not have to go through midi-ox just to play this thing properly.

    So the B0/B3 issue was only the channel number apparently. I switched the LPK25 to channel 1, and it's STATUS parameter became B0. The sustain still works on this controller, and not on the Technics piano.

    Using the mouse to press the Sus button on the user interface, then playing a key on each keyboard yielded the same results, which made me realize it wasn't a problem with the sustain pedal on the Technics, but perhaps something with the note on/off messages.

    Turns out the Technics is sending a second note on with velocity 0, followed by an "all notes off" message on key release.

    I could theoretically filter out the "all notes off" message using midi-ox or something similar, but there doesn't seem to be any options in the synchron player for taking input from anything other than directly from the controller itself. Which begs the next question. How can I record from a sequence?

    Hi, 

    That's rather strange behaviour. I'd set that filter in your DAW directly, this is also where you can record sequences (no sequencer included with our sofware, I'm afraid).

    Thanks for the tip!

    I'm trying out LMMS and Cakewalk and I'm in over my head, can't find anything about MIDI filtering. I'm sure there's a huge learning curve to DAWs. Can you recommend a good simple, inexpensive DAW without all the bells and whistles?

    We are not really using free sequencers here, but I'm sure there are some good options out there.
