  • Upgrade Paths,

The only Vienna Instruments  library I have is  Special edition I, I am only interested in using VSL from Sibelius, only interested in traditional symphonic orchestra instruments and orchestration. Prefer the sound of a traditional orchestra to the so called Hollywood sound. I have the feeling the Symphonic Cube would be Ideal for me but I am not certain. Perhaps the Synchron Package is a better choice for me?   Ideally I would like to upgrade at once but find it  too expensive, so I want to build up my collection a little at a time without making any of my libraries redundant. My special edition should be the starting point, not something to be replaced.  I suppose if I must prioritize one section over another it would be strings, but I would prefer to add instruments and effects evenly little by little. I would also like to take into consideration the difference in price, so that the price difference between buying the entire Symphonic Cube or Synchron Package at once and buying towards one of these two bit by bit will not be too large. Please recommend possible upgrade paths that will suit these complex criteria.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

My opinion: You should get the crossgrade to the SYNCHRON-ized Special Edition Volume 1 and then add more SYNCHRON-ized Special Edition volumes as you go.

More instruments, modern player, great sound out of the box.

    Best,
    Paul

  • Thank you Paul.

If I can just trouble you with a few more questions.

How much of  the Synchron Series can be controlled from Sibelius?

Are there Sibelius Sound Sets for all Synchron Series products?

Are the VI Series better integrated with Sibelius than the Synchron Series?

How do the sounds of the VI Series differ from those of the Synchron Series?

Will the Synchron Series replace the VI Series?

Do the samples of the Special Edition become obsolete when installing the Synchron Crossgrade?

    Hi,

Please find all information about Sibelius here, including a list of working instruments.

"Are the VI Series better integrated with Sibelius than the Synchron Series?"

    => It's the same system.

"How do the sounds of the VI Series differ from those of the Synchron Series?"

=> Everything Synchron is ready-to-go out of the box (seated, balanced volume levels)...

Will the Synchron Series replace the VI Series?

=> We're working on making the VI Series also available in the Synchron Player, as an optimized alternative. No reason to stop using the VI Series, if you like it the way it is.

"Do the samples of the Special Edition become obsolete when installing the Synchron Crossgrade?"

=> Yes, if you don't need to open older arrangements.

    Best,
    Paul
