  • Regulus vs Synchron FX Strings

    Hi,

how big is the difference between the Regulus library and the Synchron FX Strings? I downloaded Regulus and I am impressed. But as an owner of Synchron Strings Pro I wonder if the Standard library of Synchron FX might be better for me than the Regulus.

    Stay healthy

    Alfred

  • Hi Alfred,

The only difference is the number of articulations included (more then double for the Synchron FX Strings I).
You can compare the available articulations here:

  • Thank you, Ben!

  • Hi Ben,

sorry if I bother you again. Would you prefer the Standard Synchron FX Strings over the Big Bang Regulus. I followed your advice and saw that the FX Strings have more articulations but are the limited microphone-options of the Standard-library sufficient for a great sound?

    Thank you

  • This is the same dilemma I faced myself when Regulus came out.

The additional articulations in FX Strings I are nice, and may be very useful. Half-tremolo is subtle, but it is subtleties we are talking about, with this kind of library. Very slow glissandos can be faked, but then they are no longer the real thing.

At the same time, this is the type of library that benefits the most from the deep reverb from the additional microphones. For what I've experimented with other Synchron libraries, I find both the Room Mix and the Decca mics channels to be already great choices. But the first one is not flexible, and the second one is not as enveloping as the full set.

Unfortunately, since this is very personal, it is a choice that you have to do yourself, with no help from the others. In the end, you will probably later purchase the missing pieces…

  • Ciao Paolo,

cool answer. Do you think the Regulus Sounds as good as the Full Library of FX Strings?
maybe I really go with FX String in the cheap version first and add the full library later

  • If you are not 100% sure if you need more articulations go for the BBO package and upgrade later if you feel the need for more. That's the great thing about this BBO package (and you can get BBO: S with the money saved) :)

It's exactly the same, so it should not sound differently.
