Gabriel´s oboe - Ennio Morricone Tribute

Hello, I have made this small tribute to the recently deceased Ennio Morricone. A version for flute and Spanish guitar.

It is made with the special edition.

I would like to receive advice on how I can improve it, because it does not convince me and I am not clear on what is wrong.

Any opinion?

A little slow, but fine if heard as a eulogy. I liked it, I only I found the sudden top note a little out of place. I would drop it down an octave and place the very last phrase at the bottom register of the flute.

I was not very happy with the result and yesterday I made some changes to it, precisely I increased the tempo a little.

I removed some notes from the guitar and adjusted the speed.

I take note on the high note, if it seemed sudden and out of place it is good to know it for me, I was already used to hearing it and since I knew it was going to sound I did not have that feeling.

I have also done what you say about lowering an octave the last melodic phrase.

For some time I have been thinking about buying the standard Concert guitar, but except for the harmonics, I do not know if I can take advantage of this piece, I will think about it.

I upload the update to see if you have some time and you see it better or worse;) The first note of the guitar is not possible with that tuning, but at the moment I leave it like that, in that part I would like to use harmonics.

I prefer this version - did the tempo really change?

Anyway, if you want to take this further now - in my opinion, you should add a little more counterpoint on the guitar starting on the second verse. Not too much, just a tad, and it should be on the higher strings to complement the flute's octave jump. It basically gives the guitar more area to cover.

It's poignant and sweet at the same time. I really like it and I think you did an impressive job with the MIDI; it all sounds very natural to my ears. It wouldn't hurt to bring the tempo up maybe 5 BPM but the current tempo doesn't really bother me that much. Maybe it should be retitled, "Gabriel's Oboe That Sounds an Awful lot Liked a Flute." Sorry, just having a little fun. Thanks for posting. Well done!

And yes, you're right, it should have increased the tempo, I did it with respect to the first version, but it wasn't enough, 5bpm more I think it would have given a better result.

I tried to do it with the obode d´amore, but it was not giving me good results and I went to flute;)

In case you are interested, for the flute performance I mainly used 3 controls, velocity xfade, expression and master filter. I'm still not clear about the best way to get the best performance and each new project, I do something different.
