  • Vienna Ensemble Pro 7 with Finale 26

    Hi!
Just purchased VE Pro7 and I'm trying to get it working with Finale with an orchestral piece I have worked with VE 6. I am trying to reassign the playback to VEPro7. However, I've encountered some problems:
Compare to VE 6 (free), it seems I cannot use VE7 as a plugin to Finale? There is something called ¨VE Input Event¨ which sometimes work under the obligation that I have to start VE7 server first and have it running. (In VE 6 it started as a plugin as soon I started the playback from Finale.). When I want to connect to this ¨VE Input Event¨, I got only one of the two instances I loaded to the VE server, which makes it impossible to choose some other instruments when the first instance is filled with 16 channels and the rest is designed to the next instance (which is not shown on the ¨VE Input Event¨ connection window).
When designed to the other alternative, that is when having the VE7 server application running at the same time, I can designed the instruments to the desired instance, but then when it comes to playback, almost nothing of the VSL keyswitches works and all different articulations/play techniques are absent.
Anyone else encountered the same problem?

    Regards,
    Anders

  • Hello Anders!

Vienna Ensemble Pro 7 can be used with Finale just like Vienna Ensemble 6. Please keep in mind that you will always have to start Vienna Ensemble Pro Server first, before you can connect a Vienna Ensemble Pro plugin to the Server. I recommend starting Vienna Ensemble Pro Server before starting Finale.

If you have up to 16 instruments in your score, you will not need Vienna Ensemble Pro Event Input, because you can assign a separate channel to all instruments anyway. If you have more than 16 instruments, you can load the Vienna Ensemble Pro plugin to the first Finale bank and Vienna Ensemble Pro Event Input to the second Finale bank. You can only connect the Vienna Ensemble Pro Event Input to Vienna Ensemble Pro Server, if the Vienna Ensemble Pro plugin on Finale bank 1 is connected as well.

    I hope this helps.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Hi Andi!

The problem is solved by saving the project from the earlier version with VE6 and then importing the project by choosing ¨convert the project to Vienna Instruments Pro¨ and then loading the saved project file from VE 6; it is not possible to load the VE6 project file directly to VE Pro 7, so this is a workaround.
Anyway, it works fine now with both my two instances!

    All the best,

    Anders

  • Hello Anders!

Thanks for letting us know that you were able to solve your problem.

Anyway, it is of course possible to load your Vienna Ensemble projects with Vienna Ensemble Pro 7 too.
This can be done under Instance/Open Project

    Best regards,
    Andi
