  • time stretch legato

In the latest version of the Synchron player manual it says on p. 31 "For technical reason, time stretching currently applicable to legato articulation (in a musically correct way)."

This sentence has no verb, I have no idea what it means.

The main reason I bought the synchronized solo strings is to control vibrato in a flexible way, as you mention on the page describing this product. How does it work?

    Thank you,

    Alan Belkin

  • Hi Alan,

Thanks for the report. I remember this mistake in the manual because I fixed it in the online version: https://www.vsl.info/manuals/synchron-player/edit-tab#stretch-limitations

Meaning: Currently the stretch algorithm works great in many cases. But performance transitions like legato and portamento can sound incorrect. We hope to look into this in future, but for now if you need it in these articulations you have to try it out.
Regarding Solo Strings: You can control the vibrato via time-stretching, except performance transitions it should work great. For the transitions you have to listen closely if it sounds right.

    Best, Ben

  • Thanks! :-)

  • Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I would like to be able to stretch the legato transitions only in Synchronized Dimension Strings i.e. not the sustained note, just the transition. Is there a way to achieve this?

  • Hi,

You could use quick Stretch Factor Curves on CC34 (default) for "just" the transitions.

  • Hi,

I would really like to see the stretch function work. I just tried stretching a detache patch by a very small amount in Elite Strings with 5 mics enabled and a four note chord maxes my pc out. Please VSL, add a render function.

  • I would also highly recommend a render function like in VI Pro. Never understood how this new stretch feature should be used in realtime in terms of performance. Can't work. *shaking head*

I guess it's very complicated with the multiple microphones. You would have to stay with this exact setup when using the rendered patch.

I would rather appreciate a mic merge feature like in the SINE player. That would be great.

That would be up t the user to place the rendered patch in a folder corresponding to the project.
