    Hello,

    I have been doing all the steps from https://eu.vsl.co.at/?FileID=184032

    and I can find that many of the expressions and articulations are then reported in the Synchron player.

    But I don't know how to trigger some of them, for example : what to write in Finale to get for a Oboe the articulation "Long Notes" of type Marcato ? (and potentially select then the attack?).

    More generally, where are the links documented (in Finale? in a Vienna Synchron player propertey ? somewhere else ?).

    Hello Fabrice!

    "Marcato" and "Accent" are not offered as techniques for Strings in the Finale Human Playback Preferences. So I have chosen the available technique "Martelé" instead for triggereing the Strings marcato slots. This technique gets triggered by Articulation 4 (combined accent/staccato mark).

    For Winds Marcato is available in the Human Playback Preferences, but unfortunately doesn't work currently, because of a wrong assignement in the set of Human Playback Preferences. I made a quick fix and attached the new file here. Then it should be possible to trigger the marcato slot with Articulation 4 (combined accent/staccato mark) as well.

    To see which Finale articulation triggers which keyswitch, go to the Finale Human Playback Preferences/Instr. Techniques menu.

    It would also be possible to use our Finale keyswitch dump file to send the C#1/C#2 keyswitches that will trigger the Marcato slot.

    in Finale 26, Syzd Special Edition > Violin 1 PLUS won't recognize the staccato symbol (.) and will switch to Détaché instead.

    The only workaround I found has been duplicating the Staccato Technique in HP Preferences, add a Custom Text "stacc." and create a text espression "stacc." into the Finale score. After assigning "stacc." to any measure, Finale will correctly send the keyswitch notes 24-36 to Synchron Player.

    Am I missing something?

    Hello Roberto!

    I can't reproduce your problem. Staccato marks make all violins switch to the staccato or spiccato articulations with the SYNCHRON-ized Special Edition Violin PLUS presets and the "VSL - SYzd Special Edition" Human Playback Preferences for Finale loaded here - even with the file that you have uploaded.

    PS - Do you mean the Staccato-full stop mark or the text "stacc."?

    Hi Andi.

    I made a short video from my Mac screen. As you can see, here Finale does not distinguish the staccato and spiccato symbols and will assign the spiccato articulation to both.

    The last bar, without any articulation symbol, will be played as detaché.

    Is this ok?

    Hello Roberto!

    I ment the staccato marks (dots).

    The articulations in your video are triggered as expected. Finale distinguishes between different note values.
    Eight notes and shorter: detache
    Quarter note and longer: sustain
    Eight note and shorter with staccato mark: Spiccato
    Quarter note and longer with staccato mark: Staccato

    Thank you Andi, it's finally becoming clearer to me! :) Is the relationship between the duration of the note, the articulation symbol and the keyswitch a rule of Finale? Is it somewhere in the manual? Thanks again, Roberto

    Yes, it's a playback rule by Finale that shorter note values trigger different articulations in some cases. This rule is not set up in the Human Playback Preferences. I don't know, if this is documented somewhere.
