  • That sounds great - is this the VSL harpsichord? ALso which strings - Dimension and Solo?

    Hi William,

yes, it's VSL harpsichord (8'8') + Dimension strings and Violin solo 1 and 2, IMO the best combination of strings for this kind of music 😉

  • Impressive - how many midi tracks was needed?

  • Hi Tyttebaer,

    thanks for listening.

It is just V1/V2/VA/C/B + harpsichord, so 6 midi tracks.

  • Philippe, are you using all the players in each section, or just a select few?  I have been experimenting with that to get a smaller ensemble.

  • Simply beautiful!

    Hi William,

in the first version, the Dimension Strings setup was 4VL1/4VL2/4VA/3C/1B + solo violins 1 and 2.

I have changed my mind and have made a new version without solo strings and for DS 3VL1/2VL2/2VA/2C/1B . Smaller ensemble and, i think, best results.

    J.S.BACH : BWV 1055 NEW VERSION

    The mix is little closer.

When you don't use all the violins, you have to choose which ones you want to use and find the best combination, because each instrument has its own colour. Not easy... In the last demo :

    Violins 1 : P1+P3+P5

    Violins 2 : P4+P6

    Violas : P2+P4

    Cellos : P2+P6

  • I've noticed how different each player sounds, even though they all blend together.  It is an interesting study - I haven't tried evaluating which go together best though.

  • Hi Philippe,

Very nicely done. I always enjoy listening to your Baroque VSL works.

Which version do you like better, the one with or without the solo strings ?

Also curious if you used MIR in this demo ?

    Thanks,

    Thanks Musiksculp.

The version i prefer is ... the third one  mixed in Mirpro 😛😉. To obtain this result, the mics must be very close to the instruments ..

    BWV 1055 MIRPRO Version

I used the Synchron Stage Venue. I think this full VSL version, mixrd in SS will pleased Paul Kopf 😊

    Sounds Wonderful.  Very transparent acoustics.

Haha.. Now you made me think about buying the Vienna MIR Synchron Stage (Room Pack 6) , So I can Synchronize my Vienna Instrument Pro based libraries  😎
