  • BIG BANG ORCHESTRAL - Scoring chart

    Hi there,

    Dear all at VSL support,

Please, for the benefit of all, can you add to the different manuals of the BIG BANG ORCHESTRA libraries an orchestration chart, (a sample score in C) showing and summarizing each different disposition you propose in the library, since it is quite frustrating to manipulate such samples without precisely knowing which instruments are involved and superimposed ? It would be really a great help to students, orchestrators and composers.

    Thanks for considering my request

    Best

    Eric

  • I would like to add my voice for this request as well. Seeing how the instruments are scored will be very helpful with adding other instruments.

I wondered if the notated chords were in the manual. I am guessing they are not. Please, seriously consider adding the scoring for the phrases and hits!

    Thank you

You are right. They are not in the manual.

The manual also says nothing about polyphonic playing. Do we only get two orchestras playing at the same tone or is there some magic that splits the orchestra.

You mean you want to know which instruments are heard if you play eg C4? That's what I'd like to know.

Other than that I am curios if each instruments simply plays the lowest physical possible note or the lowest note of the "useful range".

But of course it is interesting to know how it really was scored.

  • It would be really useful for all to get a sample score for each type of textures. I am aware that producing a

sample score for each note on each articulation would be a huge task. That’s why, I simply suggest a sample

score in C for each type of texture as a starting point. Each sample score would be supplemented by

mentioning which instrument(s) are added or drop away (and on which notes) as we reach the limits of the

ambitus. Does anyone has another and more convenient idea ?

I just noticed that a pdf file including the scores of the BIG BANG CAPRICORN’s Symphonic Riffs is available from now on here.

Thanks to you VSL ! I hope it certainly means our wishes are becoming true.

    Isn’t it ?

  • Hi Everyone!

We have just added the BBO: Capricorn manual to our new MANUALS section.
And you will find the riffs condensed in there: https://www.vsl.info/instruments/bbo/bbo-c#included-riffs

Let me know what you think about it!

    Best, Ben
