  • Synchron player in Sibelius

    Hi,

2 questions regarding Synchron Player in Sibelius:

    1. I am using the Synchron Cymbals & Gongs I library with the VE SY-Percussion (SY-Player) sound set.  Do I have to activate a new Synchron Player for every single channel/staff (e.g. cymbals and tam-tam) ?

    2. For the tam-tam I have an issue with the beater-effects.  I am sure I am using the correct technique text in Sibelius (according to Synchron chapter in the VE_Percussion_sound_set manual), but yet when I indicate 'bow' I hear the 'superball' effect, and when I use 'superball' I hear a hard stick.  Is there something wrong in the patching, or did I make a mistake in the activation of different Synchron players with the same sound set ? (although that has never been a problem with VE, Kontakt or UVI players)

Thank you for helping me out !

    Joris

  • Hello Joris!

Here are the answers to your question.

1.) Yes, but you can comfortably add them in Vienna Ensemble.

2.) Such a problem can have different reasons. Maybe there's a mistake somewhere in your setup. I would go through the Troubleshooting chapter of the "Optimizing Sibelius Playback" manual point by point.

    Best regards,

    Dear Andi,

    Thank you for replying.

Regarding the technique changes: I already went trough the Troubleshooting topics, and did it again today. Also after incorporating Synchron player in VE the same issues continue to happen. The strange thing is that the cymbals work well, while the tamtam doesn't recognize most of the techique changes, although it's the same library. I'll attach the sib-file to this post (change extension to .sib). Hope you can find a solution !

    Best,

    Joris

  • Hello Joris!

Thanks for providing that Sibelius file. I have seen that you have added the instrument "Cymbals A-D" twice. For the Tam-tam you will need the instrument "Tam-tam" though. If you are unsure which Sibelius instrument to take for percussion, you can always look it up in the "VE Percussion" manual. This manual can be found in the VSL Sibelius Soundsets folder in the Windows start menu or Mac Applications folder.

  • Andi,

It is exactly that manual that I thought I had carefully read.  But apparently I got confused by the multiple use of the word "cymbals" : for the sibelius-instrument, for the manual sound sets program and for the VSL library.

    It works.  Thanks !
