  • Sibelius Audio Export Problem

    Hello!

I have a problem with exporting audio from Sibelius in conjunction with Synchron SE: all instruments but one are playing during a very short period of time, and then are coming back with their next note.

Please note that it doesn't happen when playing from Sibelius, just when I'm trying to export audio from it.

Please also note Sibelius audio export is working well with VI SE and VI Full instruments (I own Cube and I'm using mirX on all the instruments).

What is happening is that all the instruments but one (the first one apparently) are playing for a very short period of time, stops, and then are playing again at the next note they're playing.

You can hear this problem with the enclosed audio file TestSibeliusSynchron.mp3.

All the files relatives to my test are available in the enclosed zip file "Sibelius Audio Export Synchron Player Problem.zip"

    Thanks for your help!

    Best regards,

    Gil.

  • Hello Gil!

This is an odd problem which I cannot reproduce here. I couldn't load your Playback Configuration here, but reproduced it with your VE Pro Server project. All notes were played correctly here in an exported audio file.

Could it be that you have chosen a differnet Playback configuration for export than for playback?
Do you have the same problem with other projects too?
Is it always the same notes that break off?

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Hello Andi,

    Thanks for your quick answer!

After checking that I'm using the good playback configuration, I found out what is the source of the bug.

The problem is the difference in sample rate between the Sibelius Audio Engine Options and the Sibelius Export Audio (see enclosed pictures).

If you set for our example 48 KHz in Sibelius Export Audio (the same than Sibelius Audio Engine Options), the audio export is ok using the Synchron Player..

Please note that the problem occurs only with Synchron Player, everything is working well with VI.

Could it be considered as a bug and can it be on your list of fixing issues?

    Thanks!

    Best regards,

    Gil.

  • Hello Gil!

Thanks for the update. I was able to reproduce this issue now. It seems more like a small issue of the Sibelius audio engine to me - even if it doesn't occur with Vienna Instruments. As far as I can see, only the first bar is affected. An exported audio file with music starting in bar 2 was fine, even if I set different sample rates in the audio engine options and in the export audio options. Normally I'd recommend to have the same sample rate anyway. So I would see the error in the exported audio file as a reminder to correct your Sibelius audio settings.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Hello Andi,

Glad you were able to reproduce the problem :)

I understand your point of view not qualifying this as a bug but you must know that other virtual orchestras I'm using (like NotePerformer) don't have this bug.

Moreover, it's sometimes unwanted to force the audio export sample rate to 48 KHz (when using for exemple Bluetooth headphones that doesn't support other sample rate than 48 KHz)...

    Best regards,

    Gil.

  • Hello Gil!

If you set the sample rate of the audio engine and in the export audio menu to the same value, it should always work - also for your Bluetooth headphones.

Anyway, I have forwarded your report to our developers. They will look into it.

    Best regards,
    Andi
