  • Force Output Channels?

In the VST/AU version of MirPro there is a preference called "Force Output Channels" and I can't find an explanation about it in any of the manuals.  Anyone know what that is for?

Secondary to that question, see attached screenshot, if I insert an instance of MirPro into PlogueBidule as a 2in/2 out plugin, I would expect it to show two audio inputs and two audio outputs, but there is a third audio output coming out of the MirPro plugin (see image).  Anyone know what that is for?

I know MirPro is capable of surround applications, something I haven't played around with much, but I do intend to later, but anyway, its not clear to me when I use something like Plogue Bidule to host the MirPro plugin, it doesn't give me "stereo", "5.1", etc..  as options, I simply see a generic list of n ins and n outs.. so wondering which ones I should choose and what does MirPro do when I insert it in these different modes... and then referring back to the force pref I mentioned, what does that do.

One thing I wish, maybe this could be a feature request, is that that VST/AU verison of MirPro could provide the possibility to split the wet and dry sounds by simply using additional outputs in some way for that.  I have VEP and  I am using it in there for sure, but lately I've been getting more into using MirPro in my DAW without VEP...really likeing the workflow, but if I understand correctly, there is no way right now to split the dry and wet signals from MirPro in the AU/VST version.

  • When working with MIR Pro's plug-in version (opposed to the VE Pro-based "main version") the output format of the first instance defines the format for all instances added at a later point. This might be problematic with some hosts when re-opening a project containing MIR Pro. In these cases the option to "Force (the number of) Output Channels" will guarantee the proper Output Format.

... and I have no idea what ghosts Plogue Bidule sees inside of MIR Pro. :-D ... does it work like expected? Then I would simply ignore the ominous third output of the plug-in's stereo version, as well as the exotic I/O numbers. I will have to ask MIR's software engineers to be absolutely sure, but AFAIR MIR comes with mono- and stereo-inputs only.

Regarding your feature request: Seperate outputs for dry and wet signals in the plug-in version is hard to achieve consistently in 3rd-party hosts; still it's high up on a wish list for future versions of MIR Pro, that's for sure! ;-)

    Kind regards,

  • well presumabely I would use either 1 input or 2 inputs, but the number of ouputs is the question... I guess 2 outs for normal stereo operation...but what about surround operation?  I plan on doing 4 + sub (no center) mixing in my studio soon, just for enhanced experience and so presumably I would need to select some number of outs...  when I selected some of htem, I get an error message in the plugin about unsupported channels, but not some others..

anyway, yea if you gain any insights about that or the extra channel that is showing, would be interesting to know.
