  • Issues with eLicenser and Synchron Strings

    Hi,

I am having several problems with Synchron Strings I. I have been trying to solve this on my own with no luck. When running Synchron Strings I in the Synchron Player within Cubase Pro 9.5 I receive a message that the eLicenser is invalid and then the Cubase instance crashes. This ONLY happens with Synchron Strings I.

I used to run Synchron Strings within Vienna Instruments Pro, which I prefer, but VI Pro can no longer "see" the Synchron Strings patches. They simply do not appear in the patch list.

I have two eLicenser USB dongles. I have tried moving the Synchron license to the other USB dongle with no difference.  Here is my setup.

    Windows 10 Pro 64 bit
    Intel Core i9 @ 3.6 Ghz
    64 GB of RAM
Motherboard is an Asus Maximus X1 Hero
Synchron Strings is loaded on an SSD with other libraries that are working. I tried moving it to a different SSD with no luck.

    Please help!

    Hi Paul,

To see the Synchron Strings sample content for Vienna Instruments, it needs to be assigned in the Directory Manager. The VI data (*.dat files) is different from the data for Synchron Player (*.vsynvolume files).

Of course I assume that you are using the latest versions of both VSL Software and eLicenser.

Do you want to send that crash dump file to support@vsl.co.at, so we can take a look?

    Location:
    C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\VSL\Vienna Ensemble Pro\crashdumps\app
This folder is a hidden system folder, make sure that you see it: Organize => Folder and Search Options => "View" Tab.

    Best,
    Paul

  • Thank you Paul for the fast reply.

I just checked the directory manager and the entry for Synchron Strings is present, but can not open in VI Pro.

My computer cannot find the file you mentioned, either in my username "Paul" or under "Public".

Perhaps if we focused first on getting it to work in VI Pro the Synchron Player would then not be neede.

  • Hi Paul,

    Ok.

Can you find your VI Sample Content for Synchron Strings I in your Finder/Explorer?

    Best,
    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

Someone on another forum suggested the problem might be with my SSD firmware or drivers. I am updating the firmware and drivers for my SSD drives and will report back. Thanks for your help so far.

  • Some good news.

Downloading new firmware and drivers for my SSD seems to have solved most of my problems. I had recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and I was relying on the drivers that shipped with Windows 10. My Samsung SSD apparently did not like the Windows 10 drivers. So no more crash, no more eLicenser issue. The new drivers fixed that.

Now, I still cannot see Synchron Strings from within VI Pro. Yes, I have it in my Vienna Directory Manager. Any thoughts?

  • Hi Paul,

    Great news.

Did you extract the files? It should be *.dat files in your Synchron Strings content folder.

    Screenshots will help: support@vsl.co.at
