  • The dll is named" Vienna Ensemble Pro x64.dll", so you could search for that.  This is just one, but the others will be in the same place.

Bill - I know you think i am either thick or argumentative but as I said, I have already seached - see attached "results" pic

VSL peeps - please can you get involved as this is weird - you can see I ran the installer from the screen cap I uploaded and you can now see the search results NB you can see VE has installed as the icon is on the bar at the bottom

I'm trying to use sib 6 as I always have with VE 5 and lower (I HATE sib 7 and above) and can no longer do so so please try to help me

  • From the sceenshot it looks like you've searched only in the Quick Access folder. Try selecting C drive first then search again.

Just trying to help until someone can give you a definitive answer.

  • I just searched my laptop C drive, which only has the free version of VE installed, I found it in:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg\VST2

(If you're not a Cubase user it probably won't be there!)

  • Thanks Lucy - I did a full search before, just screenshotted the quick one as evidence

Thnx for trying to help - and Bill

I've now emailed support as VSL  are not on these boards at the moment

  • hi Steve,
well, i'm not a regular user of VEPRO but have run some installation tests in the past ...

    - you are searching in "Quick Access" - this is a collection of aliases to various places on your computer. you won't find anything relevant starting a search in this group.

    - during installation you are asked where to place your VST-dlls and it is up to you which location you coose, i personally select a VST-folder within the program folder of my main sequencer.

so i'd recommend to repeat your search starting in C:\ and i'm sure you will succeed ...

  • Hi CM - I’m not being ungrateful but neither you nor Bill are reading what I had written - in my last reply to Lucy I did say that I had done a full search and that I only showed the quick search screenshot as evidence that I had searched, which I should not have done. I have done a full search of the C drive and looked manually in al the likely places - Bill has already told me that I will get the option where to put the plugs during installation. I am a long time user of VsL and know that is usual. However please do look at the screen cap vid further up this thread where you will see that I am not given that choice with VE6. As described in a previous post, I am given the choice of VST2/3 etc and then it just instals with no further input from me I’ve been using VSL for at least a decade (and am also not a techie idiot) so do know what I am doing. Hence the “cry for help” on here! I’ve emailed VSL support but sadly had no response Steve

  • please be patient with our support - currently it is rather busy at VSL ...

another thought (you're on Windows 10 - right?): select "Advanced options" in the File explorer's Search Tool menue, check "System files" and repeat your search ... Windows 10 tends to hide files for which MS thinks you should not click around ...

  • OK - my error was that I had selected just VST3 to be installed to keep my plugs as tidy as possible.

This option does not install the VE dlls. If I select both VST2 and 3 to be installed then this installs the dlls and asks me where to locate them

    Thanks all, now solved

  • Glad the mystery is solved!
