    Question's as per the title - this is an extremely basic question, I know, but the manual (as I've moaned about elsewhere) is less help than a concrete parachute. 

    The reason for my question - I'd like to set up a template in Cubase with many instruments, but I don't have room for them all in RAM (I don't yet have slave machines). 

    It would be good to have all my instruments loaded into VE pro, but have them deactivated, so I could simply activate them as necessary. It looks like this is possible, but I'm getting bored of reading conflicting information on the web.

    I've mapped CC65 to turn individual instruments on and off - is there any way to change the default behaviour of the CC so that 0 is off and 127 is on? Otherwise it'll mean going through each of my MIDI tracks and making sure they're all set to 127 at the start, otherwise playing back a project will cause VE to try to load everything and crash my machine.

    The short answer is yes, it does unload from RAM.

    I'm not sure I fully understand your last paragraph, I don't see why it would try to load everything.  I use CC19 to enable / dissble on notes 127/0, and have a dummy note on bar 3 which is set to transform to the Midi CC..  I've just done a video about the cubase / disabled VE Pro template thing - the intro is here, and follow the link for part 2 which has the details of how to set it up 

    Just be warned - I do occasionally get full scale deflection when enabling a multi-out Kontakt instance.  VSL tell me this will be fixed in the next build - can't come soon enough for me!
