Yamaha CFX question
I’m interested in purchasing the Yamaha CFX but I don’t see anywhere on the page where it describes what comes with the standard library and what is part of the extended library. Maybe I’m just missing this but I can’t find it. Could someone give me an idea of what comes in each respective library? Also, as this is part of the Synchron series is it still compatible with Vienna instruments Pro, Vienna ensemble pro, and MIR? I’m not really familiar with the Syncron series Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike,
The difference is in the mic setup, which is described on the product page under "microphone positions" (scroll down a bit to see which microphone comes with Standard / Full Library).
Best,
Paul

Thanks,
MikeAs you realized it's not compatible with VI Pro, but it's compatible with VE and VE Pro of course.
About MIR, it's not requested because the CFX is recorded wet with multi mic set-up. But... in case you want, you may use some tricks, e.g.
- get rid of the reverb (just trun it off)
- take a close and dry mic (e.g. Close or Mid), and make Panning centered and wide enough for your purpose (turn off/unload the others)
- insert it in MIR, (e.g. a cardioid instance) and just turn wet/dry balance low (e.g. to 20 to 35%)
I got good results with the process above, but your ears and your workflow will rule your decisions.
