  • Smart Orchestra and 88-Key Keyboard

An 88-key keyboard is recommended for Smart Orchestra, and after looking at a walkthrough video it appears to be not just recommended but essential. Is anybody using it with a 48-key? My desk cannot accomodate an 88-key keyboard.

  • Hi DaddyO,

    There are always workarounds available!

Especially if you assign 1 track for each section in your arrangement and transpose your keyboard accordingly, you will be fine.

    Best,

  • Thanks for the suggestion, Paul.

My main uses for SmOrch are (1) as a sketchpad, and (2) to get my foot in the door on the Synchron player so I can evaluate whether or not that's a direction I want to go.

As a sketchpad, I don't want it to be too complicated, but I suppose if I set up Cubase templates with separate tracks and transpositions it might work.

  • Both in Vienna Instruments and Synchron Player, it would be great to see a single CC number used to select one of the cells in a matrix, or a cell in the Synchron tree.

In VI, you would be limited to only the first 128 of the 144 cells in a matrix, but it would be enough to cover most, if not all cases (who uses 12 rows, anyway?).

In SP, you would use groups of ten values for each columns in the tree, with values to spare.

So, a single CC would allow selection of all the cells (at least, in most cases).

Another controller that could work, in SP, is one already implemented in VI: Keyswitch Velocity. Play a Ksw softly, and you will also select its first children cell; play it at an average strength, and select the second childen; stonger, and here is the third children.
