    I took a quote of the Vienna Smart Orchestra thread. But because this is not something for the VSO, I made a new thread. As far as I can see it is also something else as fx presets, but exciting times... yes!
    Talking about dreams, I have some regarding a new library and a few tools in the Synchron Player:

    • New library for the Synchron Player: first chairs for all string groups (violin 1, violin 2, alto, cello, bass), derived from the solostrings, also to use as solo instruments.
      (There are so many new solo strings with many possibities, but the sound of the solostrings of vsl is in my ears from what I have heard until now absolutely the best, they are very rich in overtones and by that reason very suitable to shape the tone). And I dream further: please the second violin derived from solo violin 1, has the richest sound in my ears (of course my taste, I understand), 
      • stretch tool (as in ViPro), especially useful for Solo Strings, but also for other (groups of) instruments..
      • possibility to extend the range of tones in the highest and lowest end (also see ViPro).
      • possibility to enlarge or decrease the amplitude of the vibrato (especially useful for solo strings); at this moment we can manipulate the speed of the vibrato but not the amplitude (well, dreaming is allowed, isn't it?)
      • humanization tool for the solo strings (and others of course)

    Ok, end of dreaming, I awake and go futher with my stuff.

    This sounds to my understanding a bit like controling the Pitch with an LFO which could be modulated it self in Frequency and amplitude. While that is literally Synthy-technology. You are right, that this would only be usable with Solostrings, (because ensemble strings produce a diffuse effect for not making any completly simultaneous kind of vibrato).

    But in my humble opinion it is even for solostrings not that easy to use it realy in any naturally convincing way. at least I think that was the good reason for VSL to provide a couple of different recorded Viobratotypes to keep things always as authentic as possible.

    I was just thinking: stretching can work well and natural on a vibrato patch. Perhaps also changing amplitude. But I admit, probably it is very difficult to do that keeping a natural sound. Because in vibrato of a string instrument amplitude, micro dynamics and changing of colour (and of course speed) work together to get a beautiful tone. Probably not so good idea. Well, in dreams things can happen that are impossible in the real world, isn't it? But thanks for reacting on my thread.

    Working on other things something comes into my mind: what I miss in the solo strings, is more vibrato types with soft tones. Now most of the vibrato intensity has been coupled at the intensity of the loudness of a tone (so soft tone has a little vibrato, loud tone has strong vibrato).
    And also I should like to have a tone, in the very beginning no vibrato, but within a half second upcoming normal vibrato, and after that diminishing vibrato. That diminishing could be in different lengths (e.g. short vibrato time, middle short and long or endless vibrato).
    Well writing a idea costs less money then making the samples, isn't it?...
    But I lay this just here in the Forum. I know, the team of VSL read it, so you never know😊  Dreaming...

    I just did some tests with Melodyne to discover if it can sound natural, when you change the amplitude of a stringtone with vibrato, and I must admit, this can sound natural.
    Most of the time you don't get a tone without any kind of vibrato, when you reduce the amount of vibrato to zero, because Melodyne reduces just the vibrato of the pitch. And vibrato with a string instrument is not only the pitch. But you can bring interesting changes, that can be useful, I think. It doesn't have to sound synthy, if used with care.  (Somebody else talked indeed about Melodyne on the forum. He uses that to adapt the vibrato of some tones, he wrote.)

    So a tool to change the amplitude of a vibrato tone stays on my "dream list"...
