Has anyone noticed different behavior on legato patches when the MIDI notes are overlapping vs when they are touching?
It kinda of seems like the touching notes sound more like a legato bow change, and the overlap sound more like no change in bow direction (but not sounding like the slur patch). And maybe also, the amount of the overlap is effecting the transition as well???
If this is the case, this would be really useful. Any others notice this?
I'm trying to reproduce this, but I don't think there's a difference. I tried it with celli and 1st violins. With the celli, at times I kind of thought there might be something there, but maybe it was just a placebo effect, or perhaps the difference was just different round robins.
With violins, I can't really say I'm hearing anything different between connected vs. overlapping notes.
Btw., I think that the cello legatos sound better and more natural than the violins, don't they?
Hmm.. forgot to mention -- this was on the soft legatos. I think the normal/fast go to quickly to notice.

Can't say I hear a difference. Perhaps my hearing is lacking. Would be interesting if some others could check it on their systems as well.
I didn't experiment yet but in theory it makes sense:
- VSL say they wrote new scripts, but didn't disclose what is the script action. Anyway the script was always taking into account the distance between notes to detect legato and trigger the slur/connection sample or not accordingly. Then maybe synchron player script plays some role in this.
- what's for sure instead, is that the overlapping notes create a bigger "blur" (like using the "blur" function to modify release lenght) and so the sonic result is different (e.g. build-up of sound density and reverb, that makes attack or bow change less perceivable in any case).

Hi,
When applying Legato Blur (which is set to 30 by default) AND overlapping notes, the overlapping time will affect the legato blur effect. Should be very clear to hear with high settings.

So, the central concept is applied like in the picture I've attached... that's really helpful to know. (Of course some tweaking would be needed, but the basic idea is this)
