This is the second part of my little accordion concerto. The main theme is based on a Russian/Ukranian folksong (Stepon). The tempo is rather slow to give the soloist maximum opportunity for expressive and emotional interpretation.

Hi all,
I've changed the title of the second part (Andante alla Russa) into "Andante assai" for unusual reasons. The piece is actually based on a Russian folksong, but apparently the content of the lyrics (not sung here) is rather controversial in Ukrania or Poland and not very much appreciated over there... And yes, I should have known this before, but I don't speak Russian and wasn't aware of it. (The concerto was refused for that reason by a very good Ukranian accordionist.)
