Is there a difference of the new Legato Blur instead of a bit of Release before VIP 2.4.16779?
Personally I'm really sad to see the change of the Release fader, since I'm using it daily to crossfade articulations, with a mix of Release and Attack. I could make a legato patch end out with on a dynamic patch note by crossfading, but with the changed behaviour of the Release, this is not possible 😕

Does the new cc33 Legato Blur functionality work on older libraries like Chamber Strings and such? I noticed the feature in the software update earlier today and came to see what it was all about. (Guess I can just try it out and see if anything happens too, but asking anyway.)

I tried it with Chamber Strings but I could hear no difference.

Glad to hear you like it!
Here's what is happening in the background: You are scaling the P.Release value you can set for each SLOT separately (see atached screenshot). The underlying value is always manually adjusted in the mapping process.
With Legato Blur, you have a contuinuous controller now that lets you scale this value and affect all loaded legatos in your VI / VIPro instance.

I installed the latest version of VI PRO and VE PRO, but CC33 (Legato Blur) didn't appear in the preset. Of course I restarted the program. How could it be possible to be adjusted CC33 ? Does anyone who had this issue ?
You have to click on the designation of an existing controller (e.g. "Start Offset") and select Legato Blur from the selection list.

Great demo, thank you for this.
It looks like we'll be able to cover an extremely wide range of strings expression playing with all these parameters, the usual ones and this new Blur feature. A wider range I never heard anywhere else. I have to say I own the Orchestral Cube for years, Appassionata, Dimension Strings I and Dim Brass, all extended ones but... I quite never use my VSL for strings, layering two other strings libraries that sounded more versatile to me.
I was intimately hoping I could go back to VSL strings with the Synchron (it has not been the case with the Dimension). And I feel like I surely will and am happy to ! I'm really impressed by the sound, pure and rich, together now with the wide expression capabilities.
About the matrices, I had first considered the f/s/m/l matrices on a RAM point of view only, thank you so much for having clarified about the huge velXfade definition feature, I get it now ! I noticed the steps in full matrix velXfade that required some annoying following editing to get a more fluid cresc/diminuendo. So, again, thanks for giving answers to some questions or worries I had about :)

I ended up with using the Dimension in a 2 desks setup. I sometimes layered them upon another library to get some precision in fast lines i.e. I didn't work and search a lot within Dim so my opinion might be uncomplete but I didn't get large legatos sounding as I expected. And the major issue to me was the lack of 2nd violins, I had to use this boring transposition trick by 1 tone.
It feel like Synchron are way beyond Dimension (sound and playability) but when I have some time to I'll have a deeper look back on Dimension ;-)

I haven't loaded this yet, but Paul's jpg snapshot shows it working with a non-Synchron library, in this case the Chamber Violins. If I understand the feature correctly, it's enabing us to control performance release (P.Rel) per slot on a real-time basis. The initial setting is manual in the Advanced view, and the user-defined CC scales the manual setting while performing.
Today's word: sedulous.

Glad to correct myself here. It's a clever release function that only get ignored on legato patches 😊
So the crossfading concept and changing to other articulations still works.

in my opinion, the best "legato" patch in SyStrings at current state of library is no legato patches, but "long notes soft" patch.. It more close to target legato sound, that I want to listen.. I am not see, that "legato blur" feature improves anything..
But in my opinion, the slur legato is acceptable. Actually, I think the "long notes soft" is not true choice.

I don't really understand the legato blur slider yet, or what exactly I should listen for it doing.
It's the same thing as P. Rel, only on a CC basis and globally? Does it override whatever P. Rel does on a patch basis, or work on top of it?
