  • [SOLVED]-Vienna Instruments stuck at rescanning directories

Hello and a happy new year to all of you.

MIne didn't start as pleasant as I have run into an issue I seemt o be unable to resolve.

It started with me wanting to open a logic project in which I have used VSL instruments. Like years before. I had already worked with logic on audio files before that day. I am running an iMac on Sierra and Logic Pro X, both latest versions. I haven't updated or added any strange software, I am running a very clean, basic setup.

Logic was unable to open the project and I first thought it was a corrupted file. No problem, went in there and extracted the midi data and imported to new project. Wanted to put Vienna Instruments on a track. Beachball of death. Logic hung itself up. Several times. I have tried to open the Vienna Instruments Standalone: same thing. Rescanning libraries in the Directory Manager: stuck at rescanning directories. Deleted and installed the newest Vienna Software: same thing.

I am at an absolute loss. I haven't changed anything since working on my computer since before Christmas, every software is on the latest release build and I cannot use my precious Vienna libraries. Needless to say. I cannot work!

Do any of you have an idea what the issue might be? I will contact support as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    With kind regards, Oliver

  • I'm watching this post with great interest as I have the same problem.  Plug-in manager says that VSL Instruments and VE have crashed validation. Like you, I literally can not work and I'm hoping there is a simple solution.

    Hi,

With Oliver (also in touch via support@vsl.co.at), it seems likte the QT libraries have been erased for same reason.

A new installation of the Vienna Instruments Software should solve this issue.

    Best,
    Paul

  • I allready did that. Several times. To no avail.

  • Hi,

With Oliver, it was an Anti-Virus software that slowed everything down like crazy...,

@Chrisjumbo: Please check and deactivate all AV Software to check.

    Paul

  • Paul, I just sent you an email two minutes ago about not being able to use any of my DAWs because they all hung up at "scanning VST plug-ins". I happened to see this thread, and VOILÀ! Disabling the AV software did the trick. Thanks!

P.S. When did this problem start?

  • HI Glenn,

I have answered your email. There is actually no problem, you are the first person to report this.

    Best,
    Paul
