Hi
It's been a year now since Solo Cello 2 and Solo Violin 2 came out and I'm curious if you still use Cello and Violin from Solo Strings I. And which ones do you prefer ?
Kind regards
David

I use both violin of solostrings 1 and violin 2. And also both cellos. The sounds of the instruments are a bit different. For a more expressive way of playing I use violin '1' and cello '1'. They have more patches and by that more possibilities for expression, but by that it is also more difficult to get a real sound, the sound you want. Listen to the demo's of both intruments and you can hear the differencies. At this moment I use violin 2 for indeed the second violin of a piano quintet. I'm working (among other things) on getting a piece for a piano quintet as good as possible. I shared a few weeks ago an attempt, but I'm working on that piano quintet until now and find out every time again new things to get a more natural sound. An adventure, I have to say. But concerning violin and cello '1' and violin and cello 2, they have all there own specific things and all four of them are good instruments. (And violin 1 and cello 1 are definitly not the less of violin 2 and cello 2!).
I think the point of Violin 2 and Cello 2 was so that you could create say a string quartet with four different instruments rather than having to use tricks like the infamous "Transposition Trick" with two or three instruments. So I'm not sure if there's really much of a comparison. The Violin 2 and Cello 2 are more like a companion product to Solo Strings 1 rather than an alternative.
