  • Notes "leaking" from one VSL Instruments instance to another

    Hello all:

The project I'm currently involved in has several instances of VSL Ensemble and VSL Instruments.  One instance is dedicated to Appassionata Strings (AS) and another is dedicated to solo strings (SS).  During playback, music from the AS instance periodically plays on the SS instance.  E.g., first violins occasionally plays on solo violin.  (I've seen this happen occasionally in other projects but it is a particular problem with the current score.)

When I click the Test button in its various locations in Sibelius the intended instrument is always the one that plays.  This makes me think the problem is with a VSL component rather than with Sibelius.

My question is how do I isolate the SS instance from playing music not intended for it, a sort of firewall for lack of a better term.  My setup:

    Windows 10 fully patched
    Sibelius 8 fully patched
    VSL Ensemble Pro 6.0.16502
    VSL Instruments Pro 2.4.16399
    VSL Suite 1.5.2049

This project has other instances of of both Ensemble/Instruments dedicated to woodwinds, brass and percussion, but they've never "leaked" to other instruments.  The problem seems to be the similarity in naming of massed strings v solo strings.

I hope I've explained this clearly  If there's other information I can provide just ask.  Thanks!

    John

  • Hello John!

Such a problem can have different reasons. Please check the Troubleshooting chapter of the "Optimizing Sibelius Playback" manual. For most such problems you should be able to find a solution there.
