  • Please help. I can´t get the Release Samples to Work!

Hi, there. I have the VSL pro edition.
Although I´ve had the VSL for quite a while, only now have I been able to really sit down and work with it. I´m working on this Horn passage where I need to be able to hear that natural sounding release sample I keep heraing about, but never been able to implement. I loaded HO-4L_schmett_3s+RS, but I thought the sample was automatically triggerd as soon as I let go of the key, but I can´t hear it. What am I missing? Do I have to use the mod wheel to trigger it? If so, I still can´t make it work.
    Thank you
    Fernando

  • Hi Fernando!

You are playing with looped horns (HO-4L), so this little test will not work with this specific patch, try the unlooped version to detect what a release sample sounds like. Maybe your expectations are too high, it doesn´t "produce reverb"......

The best way to test, whether a release sample is working or not is to let the tone ring out (with unlooped material of course) .... and then release the key. Then you should hear that "little" tail that was originally the release sound of the note you played.

Thank you so much for you answer. You were totally righ. I was playing with a looped sample (I hadn´t noticed that the L stands for looped sample). Ach, sooo! [8-)]
I´m just starting to learn to program the VSL. I am so excited I want to SCREAM!!!!!!! What a great AWESOME library this is.
Could you please refer me to a place where I can find mor in-depth manuals or tutorial videos?
    Thanks a lot

  • Hi Fernando!

It helps a lot to read the Performance Tool manual to find out more about the features that come with the Performance Instruments. Our FAQ´s will be updated soon, until then you can also learn more about Performance Instruments there: http://www.vsl.co.at/english/pages/user_area/faqs/overview.htm">http://www.vsl.co.at/english/pages/user_area/faqs/overview.htm

And it is a good idea to get to know the full structure of an instrument by loading all possible patches in and reading the manual that comes with your product. It takes a little time, but once you understood the structure and the naming of one instruments, you will be fine with all the others. In the manual, you will always find a description of each patch.

Our Video Tutorials will be released very soon.

If you want to know more about the instruments themselves, you MUST go to our very own Instruments Online:
