  • Matrix CC

    Hello everyone,

I try to assign the modwheel to the Matrix CC (just switching between two matrices "legato" and "portamento"), but it does not work properly, rather randomly. Maybe it is a problem with the respective values in the "background". It would be great to have a value slider like for the x and y axes.

Am I doing something wrong? Or is the modwheel the most inappropriate solution in this case? Would a continuous slider be a better one?

It would also be great when one could assign different controllers for each matrix. I know it is a quite individual and complicated thing, but the problem is that I have all of my controllers (X, Y, CellXFade) reserved for functions only(!) for altering the legato patch. And I do not like keyswitches that much.

    My dream scenario would be:
    – Matrix 1: Violins legato
    – Matrix 2 (controlled by modwheel or better pitchwheel): Violins Portamento
    – Matrix 3 (controlled by pedal): Violins Staccato
    – And maybe further matrices controlled by keyswitches.

    Best,
    Sascha

  • You can only select a Matrix vix keyswitch or Program Change

  • No, there is a (new) function called "Matrix CC" where you can assign any controller you want. At least, that is what I understand.

  • Where are you seeing that?

  • Have a look at the VI Pro videos under "New Matrix Features".

  • Cool, never noiced that. Guess it's been there for a while.

So, it looks like the control value is offset by 1. So setting cc1 to a value of 3 will select matrix 4.

  • I guess so.

But as I said in my first post, switching between only two matrices with the modwheel does not work properly, at least in my case. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

  • Do you mean the phisical mod wheel on your keyboard?! That would be almost imposible to hit an exact cc number with.

  • Yes, I mean that. :)

So, probably you are right. The modwheel is not a good choice for this task.

  • Selecting at the keyboard is what keyswitches were makde for, but other gear could safice. If you have an iPad you could use that, etc

    Hi,

That's true, the Remote App for VI PRO is a great way to access and control different articulations!

    Best,
