I am trying to understand the best performance for my system with VEPRO6.
Per the manual, less instances are better. How about just having 1?
I created a single instance with preferences set to: 7cores (10 core CPU..I dont use multithreading), 16 midi ports/256 midi channels, 128 Outputs and 64 Inputs. I am reserving 3 cores for Cubase and Insert effects. I am no longer running a master/slave setup. I found my new machine spec has plenty of power and performs better than the added latency of networked machines. So, localhost is all I need with this rig at this time.
My Cubase project template is setup to have all the instruments I would normally use. I am trying to offload anything from Cubase that I really dont need for live tracking in my studio. This lets me run with really low latency monitoring. My plan is to bump up the buffer settings when I am working with VST's and mixing, if needed. My Cubase projects dont require more than 300-400 tracks.
It seems to be super stable. I have not had a single crash.
I dont understand why I would need more than one instance. Am I missing anything, or does this seem reasonable?
Thanks
