    Hi all

    First off, WOW, VSL sounds great.  But I am fighting a bit of learning curve so I don't know if my problem below is how to use the software or that I don't have the proper licensing.

    I have a Special Edition Vol. 1 Plus license and it seems like I don't have access to edit repetitions?  I think I only have 2 repetitions available for each articulation?

    Am I missing something in my thinking or does the Special Edition Vol. 1 Plus license only come with 2 repetitions?  If the answer is that Special Edition Vol. 1 only comes with 2 repetitions per articulation, what upgrade version do I need to add?

    Make sure you're logged in, then go to "MyVSL."  Then click in the little box for "Library Manuals"  A list of manuals should appear for the libraries you have registered.  Find the one for the SE Vol. 1 Plus, then look at articulations and/or patches.  There should be some indication of how many "alternations" each patch, like staccato for example, has.

    Bare in mind that the SE collections are a very watered down version of the larger libraries so if I had to guess I would say that there are probably only 2 or 3 alternations for the common ariticulations like stacc. portato,  detaches, etc.

    In order to get more repitions I think you'd have to take the plunge and buy the larger collections.

    Or... you could buy the VI Pro where you'll have some neat tools like time stretching and humanization which will add some variety to your 2 or 3 alternations.  I'm not sure but you might be able to ask for a free demo license for VI Pro.

    Thanks.... and I probably didn't make this clear above but... I am mostly using strings, exactly what string sections do I need to get to have more repetitions?  What "larger collections" should I look at?  

    Should I look at the extended chamber strings or something?  I am not sure what to get (because I feel like the SE collection was kind of a waste at this point and I would rather not make that mistake again).

    Hi,

    The repetitions for SE Vol 1 PLUS can be found in the "Advanced" folder you find in your Patch Browser (this folder is admittedly a bit hidden). They are also integrated in the presets and matrices that are marked with a "+" sign.

    The single notes come with 2 alternations for each articulation, that's correct.

    Our bigger collections come with more alternations and of course also more choice in general.

    As you mentioned Chamber Strings, here is an overview of the articulations included in the Chamber Strings I, divided in Standard/Extended Library.

    Have you tried the "Humanize" feature of VIPro? It adds a great deal of realism (even on SE strings), and you can demo it for free for 30 days.

    I did actually.  I am using VIPro already and I have been playing with the Humanize features, it really does help a great deal.

    So I have been going back and forth on this.  The SE Strings + I am using really sound pretty good but there is just a little "something" wrong with some lines from time to time that I think is related to the fact that I don't have access to as many reps as I would like.

    I know it is all subjective but, are the Chamber Stings that much better than the SE Strings?  It doesn't seem like the Chamber Strings Extended really has many more repitions than the SE Strings based on the VSL site.
