lost in installation
Hello, New to this forum, VSL, and VIs in general. I just purchased Special Editions Vol.1 and have followed the instructions as carefully as possible, but I'm missing something. I have the dongle, set it up using eLicensor and my activation code, and downloaded the following files using the Download Manager (which I downloaded and installed first: - SE Vol1 Strings Library Download - SE Vol1 Woodwinds Library Download - SE Vol1 Brass Library Download - SE Vol1 Percussion and More Library Download - Vienna Special Editions manual There are the only files available for download in the SE section. The download manager installed each library successfully using the path I specified: /library/plugins. The SE manual goes into detail about the volumes and patches, but offers nothing regarding installation, using with a DAW, etc. Unlike Vienna Instruments (I looked at that manual), there is no Directory Manager, Library Installer, No VI or VE Pro equivalent, and I cannot figure out how I am supposed to use this library. I'm sorry for the newbie questions, but how do I use the Special Edition Library and integrate it into DP8?

You need to download and install the VI player and VE seprately from the Library download. You'll find them in your User Area here on the VSL website.

Hello Pinch,
Did you make sure that your sample content is actually installed (*.dat files)?
Your downloaded installation files (*.cab files, highly compressed) have to be installed (=extracted) to become the actual sample content.
In the installation process, the location of this sample content is added to your Directory Manager automatically.
Installation should start automatically if you have not turned off the "Auto-Install" Option in the Download Manager ("on" by default).
If the sample content is not installed yet, simply click "INSTALL" in the Download Manager!
Best,
Paul

I have downloaded and installed Strings Ensemble Volume 1. I have Vienna Instruments, and Vienna Ensemble, and those both work fine. However I cannot get them to load Strings Ensemble Volume 1. I initially downloaded this to use as a plug-in for Ableton Live 9, however that program doesn't seem to recognize any of the files I have.
All the files that I do have for Strings Ensemlbe Volume 1 are marked as data files. Is there another program I need to open these with? Am I supposed to install these files into something else? I don't know if what I'm missing is super obvious or not, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi CashDaddy,
Those *.dat files are compressed files that need to be added to the Directory Manager. Here´s a video tutorial about how the Directory Manager works and general installation.
Of course you also need the corresponding license available on the computer you want to load the samples on.
Best,
Paul
