    Is there a way in VEP 6 to capture live, analog audio on the Slave Instances computer's audio interface?

    And then of course process and route that to the DAW with plugin instances?

    I have an analog keyboard connected to my Slave server's audio interface that I'd like to access via VEP plugin instances in my main DAW, if possible.

    Hi jalcide, 

    VE PRO is "just" a host, and I´m afraid I can´t see the advantage of such a setup... am I missing something?

    The advantage for some (like me) is as follows.......

    I have a large hardware synth collection. It is wired into a Focusrite Thunderbolt (24 inputs) array - that attached to DAW. However, unless I leave some synths unplugged, or route them through a mixer, I do not have enough inputs on the hardware. Depending on how you work that might not be an option - since you can record the audio of a part, then swap synths over. However, I have always liked the option to have everything playing in real time....

    So... I have a spare audio interface. It would be useful to connect that to my Slave 2 and then plug some sythns into that. The audio  / midi of those synths would then be controlled from the DAW in the normal way. In other words, the slave would be hosting VI instruments in the normal way, but could also deal with audio / midi coming through the audio interface into the slave....

    I appreciate this is a long way from the intention of VE PRO......  but there you go :D

    I can see how that would be useful, thanks for your input.

    Most people I know are using a mixer just to work with their hardware synths (also because they like to work with the audio equipment they paid a lot of money for, and for the "analog" feel).

    I am also interested in this. The reason being I can originate audio from another source, on the server, and then send it one way into the DAW. This avoids the round trip, thus freeing up processing cycles on the master.  For instance, I am using Guitar Rig, as a standalone on the server.  I can't use it in within a FX channel because there is no way to automate preset changes.  I don't want to use Guitar Rig on the master because it creates audio overrun errors with my DAW.  Also, this could open up some side chain possibilites.
