Hello!
A (desperate) question to the audio engineers out there.
I am using MIRx, which only features German seating positions for the strings (Vln1 - Vla - Db(rear) - Vc - Vln2).
Assume now that I want to blend in another library, which was recored in position and American in that (Vln1 - Vln2 - Vla - Vc - Db).
Is it possible to use a stereo manipulation tool like VSL's Power Pan or Flux' Stereo Tool to "re-pan" the MIRx-ed signal or the other library's signal to fit the respective other one?
My trains of thoughts, which you might want to pick up in your thankfully appreciated feedback:
- Minor changes should not be a problem, but moving, e.g., Vln2 from the far right to left-of-the-center...? Does it mess with the recorded/computed reflections or is this exactly what such a panning tool is able to achieve?
- If adapting the library recorded in position (and not the MIRx-ed signal): Should I just use the closest mics available, in order to avoid problems (if there are?) with the recorded reflections/reverb? This would demand additional reverb treatment then.
- If the answer is "Immmposssibrrrlllee!", my only option would be to refrain from using MIRx for the strings and use them with extra reverb and panning treatment instead, I guess?
Your expertise is highly appreciated!
Thank you and good night,
Lukas
