Using Ableton Push and Open Labs Miko
Hello , I am running a Mac Mini running 10.8.5 OS, 8 GB RAM, Avid MBox Pro , Ableton (as preferred DAW program), with Ableton Push. This is Master As the Slave computer I am running an Open Labs Miko running Windows 7 , with 8 GB RAM. The goal is to have VEL pro Miko slave running Synth and Drum VST's . Example : ( Sylenth, Maschine 2.0, Geist, Massive) To access the synths I must use 32bit server on the Miko. The. master computer Mac Mini running Ableton as the DAW. I am getting midi signal and sound. But I am having issues where some notes will have latency or not play. I have both master and slave set to 32bit servers. There is no recording so it's not that the RAM is being pushed. MIDI controllers are directly plugged in to Mac Mini. I am excited to finally get it going. Just have a few bugs to work out.. Hope someone can help..

Step 1. Open 32 bit server on both Miko and Mac Mini Step 2. Open Ableton on Mac mini ( Master) Step 3. Load VEL pro AU plugin in Ableton Step 4. Connect servers. Step 5 . Load plugins in slave VEL pro (Miko) Step 6 . Assign external instruments in Ableton to control different Synths from the Miko It's very random some notes will play sometimes and not play. It feels as if the notes are choking each other. Some programs have choke groups where one sound overrides the next one being played. Not sure if this is what is going on. But it feels similar.

Each instrument from the Miko has it own midi channel assigned in Ableton. There is no layered instruments playing at the same time. When loading up an instrument such as Sylenth 1 , playing from the Ableton Push Going up and down the pads some notes will play some will not some will have latency. As I said it's very random, so the same notes that played before might not play the next time. And it's not the plugin because it happens the same on any plugin that I used.

Just to make sure. I wanted to check but I am using LAN. The Miko does not have any wi-fi capability. Does the router and length of Cat 5 cable make a difference? Also in the preferences> server > external midi should I check the box of any of my midi connections ? Thank you for your assistance

I did not know you could directly connect two computers. If Ableton is running 64 bit and I am running 32 bit servers on both computers could this be a problem? I also attempted to play from my Yamaha keyboard and I have the same reaction with notes chocking each other. I wanted to make sure that it was not the Push hardware.

Hey Paul,
I'm still using Ableton and Miko withVienna installed everthing working fine. I was able to crete a template which saves in Ableton that automaticlly opens my vienna settings.
Since then I have updaed to Ableton Push 2 which gives me more midi control functions over 3rd party virtual instruments and plugins.
What I am looking to do now is this
Ableton Live 9 How to automate synth knobs in vienna ensemble pro 5 within ableton
I'm able to achieve this with using one instance of Vienna Ensemble per synth. What I am lookin to do is have muliple synths (4-5) per one instance of Vienna Ensemble. My question is do I have to assign one instance per synth? I am using Vienna Ensemble 5.
