  • MIRx as an option for expansion beyond MIR Pro 24

So I have some questions about MIRx.  I am looking for ways to add instruments beyond the limits of MIR PRO 24.  One alternative is to upgrade to MIR PRO.  This has the disadvantage of only working on one system unless I purchase a second and/or third license depending on how many slaves I have.   Another option is to add a venue or two of MIRx and live with its limitations for the instuments on which it is enabled.  So my questions are:

    1.  I assume these products are compatible right?  No problem running some instances of VI Pro in MIR Pro and others with MIRx enabled?  All within the same VE Pro instance and/or in separate VE Pro instances?

    2.  Does enabling MIRx in a VI Pro instance reduce the number of instances I can have in MIR PRO 24?  I assume not, but just checking.

    3.  When using MIRx on one or more slave(s) and MIR Pro 24 on the master, is there any issue about conflicts or numbers of instances that can be used?

    4.  All of this begs the question of why MIR Pro has this limitation in the first place.  It is after all a Pro product and so should look superior in every way to MIRx.  But it is not in this regard.  Unless I just don't understand how the system works.  And that is quite possible.  So that's why I'm asking...

  • Thanks.  I saw that comparison thread.  I was playing around with MIRx mode inside MIR Pro 24 and that is what triggered all these questions.  I was trying to instantiate MIRx and found out I couldn't do that directly.  But it raised a bunch of possibilities about expanding beyond MIR Pro 24.

Anyway, this takes care of my questions.

I understand what you're asking for.

So one other thought about this.  I think what would make sense is that if one has a license for MIR Pro/MIR Pro 24, then one ought to be able to enable MIRx inside VI Pro instances for whatever venues are licensed with MIR Pro (within the constraints of MIRx venues of course).  This would be in addition to MIRx mode inside VE Pro.  This way, there would not be the case where MIRx has any advantage over the Pro versions of MIR.

Food for thought.  Thanks for the info and insight.

  • I have VEP 5 and am very pleased to be given 3 licences, but I also possess MIR and some Libraries and would like those to have another licence/s. It is annoying that I use my main PC to setup VEP, including the wonderfully easily integrated MIR and then transfer these frames to 'slave', which does not have MIR. I love having as many options as possible to less interfere with my workflow, but I do not feel that I should purchase another MIR! :( | :) development costs point taken.
