  • Thank you very much. I got by clicking on the Demo the infomation "Demo with Tutorial file" and:" The available tutorial files offer midi files and Vienna Instruments preset files."   Therefore I thougt that the .fxp file would be the preset file.

  • I have the same question, but pertaining to the latest location of folders on MAC OSX. Where do I put .fxp files I've downloaded from a 'tutorial' demo. The folder is likely inside one of the two library folders in the system, but I haven't found a VSL folder to store the .fxp files.

    Thanks

  • Hi guys,

    Sorry for the delay.

These *.fxp files are Presets for Vienna Suite.

On OS X up to 10.8, the storage location for custom presets was:
    [Macintosh HD]/Shared Items/Vienna Suite Presets/[PluginName]

From OS X 10.9 on the storage location is:
    [Macintosh HD]/Users/Your_name/Library/Application Support/Vienna Suite Presets/[PluginName]

  • Hi Paul

Thanks for the information. I am running MAC OSX 11.11 and the path you describe must have moved. There is a VSL folder with four subfolders:

    Vienna Ensemble

    Vienna Instruments

    Vienna Instruments MIDI

    Vienna Instruments Pro

I can't  find where the Presets folder is.

    Sorry to be a bother.

    Paul

  • Hello Paul,

Have you ever saved a preset in Vienna Suite? If not, then this location doesn´t exist yet. You need to save 1 custom preset to create a folder for the FX plug-in you are working with.

  • Hi Paul

Yes, I have saved one preset, but I can't find the folder you describe. I wonder if the Mac OS X 10.11 system has moved things? Thanks for your help (and patience).

    Paul

  • Hi Paul

Another thought. Is Vienna Suites different than the 11 full instruments I purchased years ago? I get a littel confused when it comes to full, extended and other descriptors. Maybe I'm having trouble with compatibility? I don't own Special Editions. When I purchased those libraries were not available.

  • Paul

I found the preset I saved. It's called a vipst file. Does that help? It's in a folder which is my name/Vienna Instruments Custom Data. I just saved a second preset to be sure and it was also a vipst file. Mmmmm

    Thanks for this

    Hello Paul,

You saved a Vienna Instruments Preset.

You´d need to save a preset in a Vienna Suite plug-in. I actually thought you had Vienna Suite registered on your account, but now I see that you don´t have Vienna Suite... If you like, you can get a free demo license on the Vienna Suite product page (there´s also a brand-new PRO version).

These demo licenses work for 30 days/30 starts.
Once the 30 starts are used up, you can recharge them as often as you like by clicking "Maintenance" in the eLicenser Control Center (within 30 days).

  • Thanks

I just checked and the only VI Suite software available is the PRO version. So I'm going to check out this software. I'm not sure what it is for, and the difference between the regular version and the PRO.

Is this software I should have been using all along?

I apologize for all the requests. I think the VSL is absolutely stunning when used by people like Jay Bacal or Guy Boros. I just find things somewhat overwhelming as I am attempting to learn.

    Thanks, Paul

  • I, too, am trying to get one of these demo/tutorials running, but unfortunately, I don't succeed.

With which program should I open the midi file? I usually work with Logic Pro. I suppose this is fine for the tutorials, OK? Or do I need to open them in a particular vienna software in order to get the full functionality of the presents?

But then, how do I get the Vienna suite started? I have uploaded the demo licence to my USB-stick and I have installed Vienna Suite PRO. In the folder Applications/Vienna Suite PRO there is only the uninstaller. I suppose I can start it only as a plugin. But how? It doesn't show up in the menu where I would otherwise select Vienna Instruments (from the AU-Instruments submenu).

Sorry for the question, but I don't really understand what a vienna suite preset actually is. Does it contain the Instrument preset? I am asking because the instrument present is the one thing I really need to understand what the articulation codes in the midi file actually mean. I don't care too much about the other stuff like eq, compressor etc., because my primary goal is to just learn how to program the VSL instruments themselves.

    Any help is really appreciated!

    Thanks

    Matthias
