  • MIR RoomPack 5 PERNEGG MONASTERY test drive

I just happened to be thinkng of buying MIR RP3 when I refreshed my browser and saw a new RoomPack! And it's a monestary too! I just downloaded the demo and am composing something for it. 5000 IRs for this room is a lot. Should be some good detail. Price is nice. I'd like to hear what others think.

There's an update to MIR with some new venue presets and an AIR DAMPNING control! Nice. The Gateshead Sage is now also in MIRx form. Sounds good. I wish VSL would do a RP3 for MIRx, although I'd proably rather have the full room with the hot spots and all.

I just bought five single instruments today and will now buy another tomorrow to check this room out. I'll upload music soon.

  • Hi Steve,

Glad you like the new additions.

Just to avoid misunderstandings: The announced new feature "Simulate Air Absorption" (working title) is not implemented in the current versions of MIR PRO just yet... Should be integrated in the next available update!

Should the air absorption simulation be there now or not? I can't find it so I think not, but still the brand new VSL newsletter (#236) says it should be there.

  • Hi Sami,

This feature is unfortunately not there yet, but it will be delivered as soon as possible.

    Sorry for the confusion!

  • Thank you for the quick reply Paul. I'll be eagerly waiting for this feature.

  • So far I've been using the master filter in VI Pro to simulate air dampening. It sounds ok but not perfect. Are the algorithms of the new air absorption feature much different from the VI Pro master filter?

  • MIR Pro's distance-dependent Air Absorption filter will only affect the direct signal component, and you will be able to switch it on and off for each Icon individually. Other than that, it's "just" a cleanly set and implemented filter. :-) Kind regards,

  • I really hope this feature is available soon. It's something my current project is in need of.

Can this be simulated with an EQ?
