    Hi,

    I currently have about 1 terabyte of VSL samples, and another 400G or so of other libraries. So space is at a premium.

    I was wondering: In the VSL libraries, there are some things I never use, in particular the prerecorded runs and arpeggios. Is there a way to delete those from my disk without messing up the directory structure? How do I know which of the .dat files to remove?

    When you buy a standard library you are actually loading the entire library on your hard drive.  I don't remember exactly why but it has something to do with the way the samples are decompressed on to your hard drive or something.  Maybe one of the techy guys at VSL can explain this again.

     

    So... I would imagine if you were to start deleted sample files from your hard drive you might run into problems loading other samples that you use on a consistant basis. 

     

    I could be wrong on this but I'm thinking it would be easier to just buy larger hard drives than it would be to start deleting things you don't think you need.  Just a guess🤔

    Hi Alan, 

    Jasen is right, it´s not a good idea to remove *.dat files, as all data is scrambled into these data blocks and you need all files for each product to work as intended.
